A few hours from Murin and Lake Hovsgol in exotic Mongolia awaits an exclusive river adventure, a unique and not least comfortable way to see and experience Mongolia’s wilderness. Expect open plains, magnificent views and add world-class service – this is true eco-luxury. Mongolia is a bit like “the wild west” with its huge plains and large, empty areas. Large sections of the population still live as nomads. Here you live life on horseback, and live in many ways as a hundred years ago – but with a mobile in your pocket. Your guides and the people you meet along the way are friendly, curious, with a good sense of humor.

Sample Itinerary
To the river
Your journey begins with a 4-wheel drive picking you up at Murin or Hovsgol Lake. The trip to the river takes approx. 3 hours, and it’s a beautiful journey where you drive past nomads who live their lives in and close to their traditional grass tents. The closer to the river you get, the more vegetation and more varied nature you see. Birch and various larch trees dominate here. Eventually you arrive at the camp, which is in the middle of nowhere. Time for a nice dinner and relaxation.
On the river For
the next three days, you will experience the river with your professional guides. In some places you float quietly forward, sometimes it is a slightly more action-packed experience. Along the way, you pass ravines and gorges with walls over a hundred meters high, where the river at high tide turns into a raging force that swings you fast forward. Here are both class 2 and class 3 currents, but don’t worry, the guides are in control. It should also be mentioned that the equipment used is of good quality and completely safe and thoroughly tested. Either you let the guides steer the boats, or you grab a paddle and steer your own kayak. Along the way you spend the night in camps, with comfortable conditions and with good food and drink. You will be pampered and experience great hospitality. An adventure you will never forget, far out in the Mongolian wilderness.
On the last day of the expedition, you will again be driven to Murin or Havsgol lake, maybe a little sore in muscles you did not remember you had.

The local tour operator we work with has a close relationship with local politicians, environmental organizations and locals. They have a common goal, which is to protect Mongolia’s amazing nature and not least the country’s rivers and water systems. Out of respect for nature, there are only six participants with per expedition, and the trips are arranged for an extremely limited period of time. Of course, this is “catch and release”, and fishing is done with fishing hooks without barbs. You contribute to the local economic development, and the encounter with this very different culture may give you a different picture of how life can also be lived.
