Embark on an fun and exciting family trip with a unique glamping experience in Swedish Lapland and end of with exploring the beautiful city of Stockholm. Since 2022, husband and wife team Jonas Gejke and Naila Sher have owned and run Aurora Safaris, based in the Råne River valley of Swedish Lapland. Attracting guests from across the world, a stay with Aurora Safaris is a chance to step out of the ordinary and try something both authentically Swedish and uniquely international.

Here you and the family can experience a real Swedish safari adventure! The clean air, the adventurous nature and not least the starry sky you experience at night here, with the Milky Way just above your head, it’s pure magic. Continue to the capital of Sweden, Stockholm, often referred to as the Venice of the North. This city has everything you’d expect from a busy capital, Stockholm is built across 14 islands where the freshwater Lake Malaren meets the Baltic Sea. This means you’re never far from water: shore-edge strolls; boat trips out to one of the thousands of peaceful islands in the Stockholm archipelago to the east of the city.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival in Sweden & Aurora Safari Camp: Tipi Cabin – Credit – Northern Soul Journeys (1)

Arrival with flight to Luleå. You will be picked up by a private guided transfer through the town of Luleå and into the forest along the scenic Råne River. The journey, approximately 1 hour, offers opportunities to spot moose and reindeer. The final stretch to Aurora Safari Camp is a picturesque 10-minute boat ride, or guests can opt for a canoe or sea kayak transfer with luggage transported by boat.

Your Tipi Cabin: Tipi Cabin interior 9 – Credit – Aurora Safaris

Check-in to the Tipi Cabin, followed by a camp briefing and welcome drinks. Enjoy an afternoon sauna and savour dinner at the camp. With abundant daylight during the summer, immerse yourself in the unique surroundings. Overnight stay in Tipi Cabins.

Meals at Aurora Safari Camp: Aurora Safari Camp Veranda – Credit – Aurora Safaris

During your stay at the Aurora Safari Camp all meals and drinks are included. Breakfast, lunch, 4 course dinner, snacks and drinks that are served all day. There is always a house red, white, sparkling wine, and a selection of beer. A small bar is also available with whiskey, gin, vodka, rum etc.

Day 2. Canoe Safari: Canoeing – Credit – Cecilia Jägenmark 03

Breakfast at the camp. Today you will enjoy a guided canoe safari with chances of seeing local wildlife such as birds, moose, beaver and maybe even reindeer as you glide peacefully along. Your guide will help find a beautiful scenery along the way in our amazing nature.

Duration 4 hours including a light lunch.

Day 2. Afternoon: Swedish Lapland – Summer session

Spend the afternoon as you wish – swim in the lake, borrow fishing gear and catch tonight’s dinner, paddle board or kayak on your own or hike in the forrest.

Day 3. Guided nature walk: elk aurora safaricamp

Breakfast at the camp. Embark on a guided nature hike through the Arctic Forest to witness awe-inspiring views, and gain knowledge about the trees, plants, birds, and wildlife that thrive in this habitat. Immerse yourself in the surrounding beauty and appreciate the wonders of nature. This trip presents a remarkable opportunity to establish a genuine connection with the environment in this stunning location.

The duration of this trip is 3 hours, including a light lunch.

Day 3. Afternoon: Freshly caught large pike in the hands of a fisherman. Lucky catch.

Day 4. Floating Safari Camp: Floating Safari Camp – Credit – Asaf Kliger-215

Enjoy breakfast and today you are checking in to the Floating Safari Camp, in a hidden bay in the large lake Degerselet in complete seclusion, you can bathe, bask, paddle, fish and enjoy yourself completely privately. All this in arctic light!

Day 4. Continuation  - Full day trip to Storforsen: Storforsen, wild, huge waterfall on Pite River in Swedish arctic on a cloudy, rainy day of arctic summer. Norrbottens area, northwest of Alvsbyn. Wild nature of far north. Nature of Swedish Lapland

On this amazing full-day trip, you will visit Europe’s largest waterfalls; Storforsen. The falls are impressive to visit all year round; in winter it is particularly spectacular with ice, snow, and whitewater that roars at full power down the rocks whereas in summer it is a blissful place to spend some time exploring with only the sound of the water crashing around you.

Duration: 5-6 hours, including a light lunch, providing ample time to fully appreciate the natural wonder of Storforsen.

Day 5.  Visit a Sami family & their reindeers: Visit a Sami – Credit – Aurora Safaris 03

Enjoy a fully immersive Sami experience today. Meet a traditional reindeer keeper family and also their precious animals. A traditional lunch is served and guests will get the opportunity to learn about the Sami culture, their work and their relationship with the reindeer.

Duration: 2-3 hours, including a light lunch, allowing for an in-depth understanding of Sami culture and traditions.

Depart from Luleå and arrive to Stockholm Arlanda Airport. A taxi will transfer you to your hotel.

Stockholm’s summers are warm – sometimes quite hot – and it rarely gets dark during summer nights. The city is easy to get around on foot or public transport, and its various districts have their own unique vibes – the island of Södermalm has a laid-back air and is a draw for the creative set, while Östermalm is the picture of refined elegance. Nestling between these two areas, Norrmalm is a busy and vibrant downtown spot, and you’ll find the charming Old Town (Gamla Stan) south of Norrmalm. The city was officially founded in 1252 by the regent of Sweden, Birger Jarl. By the end of the 13th century, Stockholm had grown to become Sweden’s biggest city, serving as the country’s political centre and royal residence – one that was repeatedly besieged over the following centuries. King Gustav Vasa is forever celebrated for recapturing Stockholm in 1523 from the temporary rule of the King of Denmark.

It is very easy and fun to walk around Stockholm. You an also catch the subway or tram. Walk through the historical Picturesque Old Town with its narrow alleys & cobbled squares

The Nobel Museum, The Great Church of Stockholm, The Royal Palace, The Abba Museum.

Fun for children:

The Vasa museum -The Vasa is the best-preserved seventeenth-century ship in the world and a unique art treasure. More than 98 percent of the ship is original, and it is decorated with hundreds of carved sculptures. Choose the family trail!

Skansen – Skansen is the world’s oldest open-air museum, showcasing the whole of Sweden with houses and farmsteads from every part of the country. They also have an aquarium and a zoo. Make sure you stop somewhere for a (Swedish Fika) and try some cinnamon buns!

Day 8. Stockholm Archipelago: Cape with summer houses and fishing stalls in Vaxholm a beautiful summer evening

Enjoy breakfast before it is time to explore the archipelago of Stockholm! We suggest catching one of the boats departing just outside the hotel and go to Vaxholm where you can visit the Medieval Fortress of Waxholm. You should also visit the gorgeous town of Vaxholm where you can have lunch and wander around, look at boats and enjoy the small boutiques – it is always very lively during summer time. Maybe go for a swim?

Aurora Safari Camp:

has minimal impact on the environment around it, compared to “normal” hotels:

  • The water you drink has been filtered through a sand bed
  • They have eco-toilets, a urine separation system
  • Waste from the site is transported to a biogas plant in a nearby town, which is then converted into fuel for the municipal buses.
  • The birch wood used to heat the tents is from local suppliers. Birch wood is a biofuel, and birch grows fast.
  • Transport to the camp takes place with a modern snowmobile with a catalytic system and a very energy-efficient engine (consumption approx. 8-10 liters per 100 km).
  • The camp is not connected to the main grid. There are solar cells and LED lights that provide all the necessary light.
